Day 1 – Remote Learning

6th January 2021Gemma Newton

Good Afternoon. We have successfully started day one of our remote learning programme. Staff have been busy yesterday and this morning preparing and uploading work and videos for your child to access through google classroom. All children working from home have been assigned a new google classroom specifically for remote learning. We have noticed that a number of children in year two still have not accepted their invitation to their year group’s remote learning google classroom. Please log in as soon as possible so that your child can begin to access their learning at home. It is really important you do this to ensure that your child is learning and accessing the same work that they would receive in school. If you are having any technical difficulties please contact school as soon as possible in order that we can assist you and ensure that your child is working each day.

You can download the google classroom app to most phones, tablets or iPads. You can also access their classroom by visiting www.biddickhallinfants.co.uk  using a web browser on any device and clicking ‘log in’ at the top right hand side of the screen. If you have difficulties with logging in there are many helpful videos on our school website under the tab ‘Accessing Home Learning.’ Children should have all login details they need in their work pack. Thank You.

Potential change regarding the reopening of school.

3rd January 2021A Best
Dear parents and carers,
We apologise for the short notice and inconvenience this may cause but it is very necessary that we inform you of some potential change regarding the reopening of school. We have been liaising with staff and the LA across the weekend but in line with union advice there is the possibility that learning will move to an online platform for some pupils from Tuesday.
The school will remain open for the children of key workers and vulnerable children. Could we ask that you contact school at your earliest convenience to inform us if you will require your child to be in school should we need to move to remote learning from Tuesday.
Thank you,
Kind regards
Andrea Willis ,          Beth Foster

Classroom to Care Home

21st December 2020A Best

Biddick Hall Infant and Nursery School  value their children’s personal development as well as their academic achievements.  They have been spreading some Christmas cheer and compassion by writing letters, creating Christmas cards and drawing pictures for residents at a local care home.

The story began In 2019, when their Year 2 children sang carols for socially isolated local residents at Talbot Medical Centre, where Sharmila Parks is a GP.  The residents were so impressed with the children’s singing and Sharmila remarked how respectful the children were.  Head Teacher, Andrea Willis, and the rest of the school, were keen to make more formal links with a local care home, but unfortunately COVID stopped this from happening.  Christmas was coming around again and so the project “Classroom to Care Home” was born!
The children aged 3 – 7 years have all been learning about caring for others in the community and were very excited to be able to make people smile this Christmas.  They hope to continue this friendly partnership throughout the year, with Easter and Summer good wishes too!  Who knows, maybe one day the children will be able to visit the residents in person!
