Flu Immunisation Consent

19th September 2024Gemma Newton

Dear Parents/Carers

Nasal and Intramuscular Flu Vaccination Consent Form

Your child’s flu vaccination is now due and the school session is booked for 18 October 2024.

This vaccination is recommended to help protect your child against flu. Flu can be an unpleasant illness and can cause serious complications. Vaccinating your child will also help protect more vulnerable family and friends by preventing the spread of flu.

Please complete the electronic consent form using the link below before 11 October 2024. (one for each child) to ensure your child receives their vaccination.

https://nhsImms.azurewebsites.net/session/a1b9a25c

Once your child has received their flu vaccination, you will receive an email with our contact details and possible side effects listed.

‘The nasal spray is the preferred flu vaccine for children. It is quick, painless, easy to administer and may be better at reducing the spread of flu to others than an injected vaccine. There will be a small number of children in the school not able to have the nasal vaccine because of pre-existing medical conditions or treatments. They will be offered an injected vaccine. The injected vaccine is also available for children whose parents don’t want them to have the nasal spray because of the very small amount of porcine gelatine (used as a stabiliser)’ (NHS 2024).

If you have any queries, please contact the school age immunisation service on 0333 358 3397.

If your child has already had the Flu vaccine since September 2024 please complete a refusal form.

If you have any problems accessing the link, please telephone 0333 358 3397.

Kind Regards,

Immunisation Team
